In 2008 and 2009, the Hawaii Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 487th Field Artillery Regiment (1-487 FAR) deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF VIII) as part of the 29th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (29th BCT).
